The Tulsa Threat is a full-contact women’s football team established in 2011 with the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA). The Threat is based out of the City of Tulsa, and is the only full-contact women’s football team established in the State of Oklahoma.
For decades there has been a myth about women and football circulating, that claims women do not want to play the game. The myth says football is too much of a physical, violent, brutal, hard-hitting sport and does not appeal to women.
But, believe it or not, there are women out there who LOVE playing football. They love football for the same reasons that men love football but have never been given the opportunity to play.
The WFA has shown that women, not just in Oklahoma but across the country, want to learn and play football. The Tulsa Threat has proven that women in and around the Tulsa metro area also want their chance to play and we found an entire football team’s worth of women athletes.
The main goal of the Tulsa Threat is to teach and foster American football to a group of athletes who have never been allowed to play. Women want to play this game and the Threat is here to show them how.
That is who we are!
